Bio-based porous materials for hydrogen storage and environmental applications
Objectives
The overarching goal is to valorize a bio-based active rich carbon by-product, resulted as a solid phase from thermochemical conversion of biomass wastes, into new polymeric cryogels with tailored porosity, suitable for hydrogen storage and designed to act as a promising substrate in water/air purification as well. The developments require the following objectives to be achieved:
Specific objectives:
- Design, obtaining and morpho-structural investigation of CNMSs from biomass waste including surface chemical functionalization and porosity enhancement.
- Design, preparation and chemical-structural characterization of porous polymer composites of p-HEMA with embedded CNMSs with tailored porosity.
- Testing and morpho-structural adaptation of engineered porous composites to hydrogen storage and environmental remediation.
